How to know the type of hard drive installed on your newly purchased laptop or desktop? This question these days comes up to every new PC buyers. We can use the features available in Windows itself to find out.
HDD - Hard Disk Drive
SSD - Solid State Drive
1. Use Windows PowerShell
Open windows PowerShell and type get-physicaldisk. Under MediaType you can figure out whether the disk is HDD or SSD. From the output below the disk type is SSD
2. Use the windows tool "Defragment and Optimize Drives".
Search for Defragment and Optimize Drives from the windows search option. Under the Media Type column we can figure out the type of the disk.
We can also get the above by typing dfrgui in the Run tool. You can open the run tool by pressing Windows key and R (Win+R)
